Nina Overgaard Therkildsen, Ph.D.

Nina Overgaard Therkildsen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University. Her research aims to leverage the ongoing revolution in genomic analysis tools to generate information that can help promote sustainable fisheries management and marine conservation. While she works on multiple different species, much of her prior and current research is focused on Atlantic cod, both seeking a better understanding of population sub-structuring and adaptive divergence found within this species today and using ancient DNA to examine how these characteristics have been impacted by the long history of human exploitation. Prior to moving to Cornell, Nina was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University. She holds a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark, an M.S. from the University of Copenhagen, and a B.A. from College of the Atlantic, ME.
